EMPLOYMENT ABOUNDS & POVERTY GROWS UP.  WHAT IS GOING ON?
EL EMPLEO ABUNDA Y LA POBREZA CRECE.  QUE PASA?

Introduction  by Hugo Adan

This morning the President inform to the Nation that employment is growing up. He did not mention the fact of two partial jobs that workers have to do daily to survive with minimum salaries around $8 p/hour. One meal a day cost such amount of money. If he has family (3 average) and the wife also working, they are definitely condemned to poverty and the kids to streets.

Hugh Smith explains this reality with the language of macro-economics.

When I listen the Presid message I wondered myself if he is participating in the Pinocquio Marathon   with Hillary (the competence for largest noses). Who is winning? No one, this is a “postas race” and both are in the same line competing against Trump in the other line. He paid & dismiss his team for incompetence and decided to race himself alone. Between these competitors who is winning? I guess Trump. Why? Because Obama is tired, his legs don’t work anymore and the lady in his line suffer from a kind of cancerogenous rheumatism called “cronyism”, so her legs are trembling, her mind is messy (repeating the same lies again & again) and she feels very weak to continue the race. They are condemned to be the losers.

Getting serious , I have another image of this event that I want to share with you, before going to macro-econ explanation of Hugh Smith.

Premises:
1-Anyone able to work .. does it for a decent salary.. to escape from poverty or to pay debs

2-Americans work hard, very hard .. most of them two partial jobs .. They are the most consumerist in the world .. Most of them work for the week .. some for the month and very few for the whole age of work. .. If they get good money, they get new car, new wife, new house and travel the world a lot .. If they lose the job .. they move to another one, or the parents house if they young .. If the job market collapses: not job for the new generation and very few for post-milennials (35-50ages) (1).. then you go to the welfare .. If there is not welfare .. you have 2 choices a- join the Rev ; b- save yourself from them .. get a gun & install cameras in the back & front of your house. .. This is the current “American way of life” for the bottom of the middle class, the most in the US.

ZERO HEDGE
ECONOMICS

[ NO WAY TO SAY THAT THE ECONOMY IS INGOOD SHAPE ]

Not surprisingly, corporate tax payments and refunds mirror the many signs of a slowing economy that have recently emerged.

The next chart shows the underlying trend in the form of the 12-month rolling change in net corporate tax receipts. This shows actually a quite noteworthy development: the 12 month rolling change has just crossed into negative territory to the greatest extent since late 2007 (there was a very tiny dip below the zero line in 2011 as well, during the peak of the euro area debt crisis.

Front chart:

Conclusion
Several things can be gleaned from this:
1. the economy is indeed slowing down, and corporate profits are coming under pressure (notwithstanding the non-GAAP and buyback influenced per share data reported by listed companies);

2. aggregate corporate tax receipt data are apparently a good leading indicator of economic downturns (but not of upturns, presumably because write-downs tend to lag economic recoveries);

3. the stock market’s valuation and the real economy have drifted apart quite a bit

This is nothing new of course, but it is once again confirmed by these data as well.

WAITERS /BAR TENDER vs MANUFACTURING JOBS SINCE 2014

And here is the longer-term picture, going back to the start of the crisis in December 2007: please do not "peddle fiction" upon seeing this chart.

The number of Americans not in the labor force soared by a whopping 562,000 in April, pushing the grand total of people not in the labor force almost back to record highs over 94 million. As a result, the participation rate, which recently had climbed to 63% or the highest since early 2014, has once again resumed its downward slope with the April print down to just 62.8% as the poor labor and demographic conditions once again emerge as a key driver within the US workforce.
Concerning fact: the resumption in the deteriorating trend in the US labor force participation rate, which in recent months had been on a steady increase as far fewer workers were dropping out of the workforce (contrary to convention wisdom, this was not driven by new entrants into the labor force).
All that changed today, when the number of Americans not in the labor force soared by a whopping 562,000 in April, pushing the grand total of people not in the labor force back over 94 million and fast approaching the all time high of 94.6 million.

As a result, the participation rate, which recently had climbed to 63% or the highest since early 2014, has once again resumed its downward slope with the April print down to just 62.8% as the poor labor and demographic conditions once again emerge as a key driver within the US workforce.

"Following A String Of Disappointing Data" BofA Capitulates On "Two Rate Hikes" Call. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/06/2016  :  "...the jobs report was not the sole factor for the revision to our call for the Fed. It was simply the last of a string of softer indicators that has prompted us to change our forecast. But remember, the economy is still expanding, inflation is still accelerating and the Fed is still normalizing." – BofA

Where The April Jobs Were. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/06/2016

We already know that the quantity of the April jobs was disappointing, but what about the quality? Well, on one hand the BLS reported that based on the Household Survey, in April 253K full time jobs were lost so there's that. But what did the Establishment Survey, which is the far more massaged one and thus the one that algos pay the most attention to, show?

As the chart at the bottom reveals, following the March job gains which were driven by low paying education/health and retail trade as well as the better paying construction worker jobs, in April retail trade saw a big drop (as we predicted would happen last month), construction work likewise exhausted its growth, while the old standbys of Education and Health and Leisure and Hospitality continued to increase, rising by 54K and 22K respectively. The biggest job growth category, however, was Professional and Business services (which typically includes part-time jobs although we break it out), which saw a 56K increase in April, the biggest move higher for this job group in years.

An interesting rebound was observed in manufacturing jobs, which after tumbling by almost 30K last month, saw a modest 4K increase in April.  ..
On the other end, a surprising drop was seen in government workers, which declined by 11K, while the 8K drop in minin and logging workers was very much as expected as the shale drama continues.

Before the 20th century, the average person would only go to the hospital as a last resort. That’s because hospitals were where you went to die. They were unhygienic hell holes staffed by unprofessional doctors who knew as much about medicine as you or I know about nuclear physics. Even when a healthy person was admitted to a hospital, there was a really good chance that they weren’t coming out alive.

A lot has changed since those dark days, but there are still plenty of ways to die in a hospital that are very preventable. In fact, so many people die from “medical errors” in our hospitals, that it’s become the third leading cause of death in America. It outranks car accidents, murders, and suicides put together, and by a wide margin. It’s only surpassed by cancer and heart disease as the leading causes of death. According a report published by The BMJ, over 250,000 people die from medical errors every year. They define these errors as:

No Wonder We're Poorer: Wages' Share Of GDP Has Fallen for 46 Years. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/06/2016  :  The problem is that limiting financialization will implode the system. The status quo now depends on financialization for its profits and taxes, and so ripping the heart out of financial skims and scams will also rip the heart out of the entire status quo. And so 95% of us will continue to get poorer, no matter who's in office. by Charles Hugh-Smith of OfTwoMinds blog,

WASHINGTON BLOG and /or CITIZEN.ORG

This post explains the liberties guaranteed in the Bill of Rights – the first 10 amendments to the United States Constitution – and provides a scorecard on the extent of the loss of each right.
First Amendment
The 1st Amendment protects speech, religion, assembly and the press:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The Supreme Court has also interpreted the First Amendment as protecting freedom of association.

A federal judge found that the law allowing indefinite detention of Americans without due process has a “chilling effect” on free speech. And see this and this.
There are also enacted laws allowing the secret service to arrest anyone protesting near the president or other designated folks (that might explain incidents like this).
Mass spying by the NSA violates our freedom of association.
The threat of being labeled a terrorist for exercising our First Amendment rights certainly violates the First Amendment. The government is using laws to crush dissent, and it’s gotten so bad that even U.S. Supreme Court justices are saying that we are descending into tyranny. (And the U.S. is doing the same things that tyrannical governments have done for 5,000 years to crush dissent.)
