ONE MORE REASON TO STOP HILLARY CLINTON

“It is entirely possible that the world is being led to destruction by nothing more than the greed of the US military-security complex. Delighted that the reckless and stupid Obama regime has resurrected the Cold War, thus providing a more convincing “enemy” than the hoax terrorist one, the “Russian threat” has been restored to its 20th century role of providing a justification for bleeding the American taxpayer, social services, and the US economy dry in behalf of profits for armament manufacturers.”

Losing Ground In Flyover America, Part 3. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/29/2016   :  The Fed’s crusade to pump-up inflation toward its 2.00% target by hammering-down interest rates to the so-called zero bound is economically lethal. The former destroys the purchasing power of main street wages while the latter strip mines capital from business and channels it into Wall Street financial engineering and the inflation of stock prices.

As we indicated in Part 2, http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-05-27/losing-ground-flyover-america-part-2 the Fed’s crusade to pump-up inflation toward its 2.00% target by hammering-down interest rates to the so-called zero bound is economically lethal. The former destroys the purchasing power of main street wages while the latter strip mines capital from business and channels it into Wall Street financial engineering and the inflation of stock prices.

The problems we face cannot be fixed with policy tweaks and minor reforms. Yet policy tweaks and minor reforms are all we can manage when the pie is shrinking and every vested interest is fighting to maintain their share of the pie. Our failure stems from a much deeper problem: we optimize what we measure. If we measure the wrong things, and focus on measuring process rather than outcome, we end up with precisely what we have now: a set of perverse incentives that encourage self-destructive behaviors and policies.
….
Rather than measure consumption and metrics that incentivize debt, what if we measure well-being and opportunities offered in our communities?
The problems we face cannot be fixed with policy tweaks and minor reforms. Yet policy tweaks and minor reforms are all we can manage when the pie is shrinking and every vested interest is fighting to maintain their share of the pie.
There is a growing dissatisfaction in the economics field with the current measures of economic activity: GDP, unemployment, and so on. This dissatisfaction reflects a growing awareness that these legacy metrics do a poor job of capturing what is actually important in fostering sustainable, broad-based prosperity, what many call well-being.

What are we measuring in healthcare?
Healthcare metrics offer a useful analogy. If cholesterol levels are a critical measure of health, then the medical community devotes its resources to lowering cholesterol levels below whatever threshold has been identified as critical. But what if a better overall yardstick of health and risk is the body mass index (BMI), which measures height and weight?

If we measure academic achievement by the issuance of a college degree, but the process of earning that degree does not measure real student learning, then what are we measuring with college diplomas? What we’re really measuring is the students’ ability to navigate an academic bureaucracy for four or five years. Since we’re not measuring useful learning, we have no way to hold colleges accountable for their demonstrable failure to teach useful skills.

What are we measuring in the workplace?
The key point here is systemic success or failure arises from our choices of what to measure and what thresholds we set as meaningful. Whatever we select to measure and deem important, participants will optimize their choices and behaviors to reach the rewards that are incentivized.

Rather than measure consumption and metrics that incentivize debt, what if we measure well-being and opportunities offered in our communities? What if we measured doing more with less rather than consuming more? What if our primary measure of economic well-being was the reduction of inputs (resources, labor, capital, etc.) that resulted in higher output (increased well-being)?

These questions help us see that to create a sustainable system that alleviates inequality and poverty, we must first choose metrics that create productive incentives for best practices and disincentives for fraud, corruption, waste and inefficiencies.

Another Real Estate Crash Looms: Sam Zell Dumps Holdings, Warns "The Fed's Deferred Reality For Too Long". Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/29/2016    :  . Everything seems to be booming again – easy money, easy lending, rising prices, and a bread and circused populous. But appearances can be deceiving and highly acclaimed billionaire investor Sam Zell isn’t buying the hype... noting the nearly 50 million Americans on food stamps, the six million millennials living in their parents’ basements, or the massive spike in business debt delinquencies.

Paul Craig Roberts: Killary Will Be The Last US President . Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/29/2016   : It is entirely possible that the world is being led to destruction by nothing more than the greed of the US military-security complex. Delighted that the reckless Obama regime has resurrected the Cold War, thus providing a more convincing “enemy” than the hoax terrorist one, the “Russian threat” has been restored to its 20th century role of providing a justification for bleeding the American taxpayer, social services, and the US economy dry in behalf of profits for armament manufacturers. Previous US presidents worked to defuse tensions. The Obama regime has inflated tensions with lies and reckless provocations, which makes it far more likely that the new Cold War will turn hot. If Killary gains the White House, the world is unlikely to survive her first term.

BIG BUSSINESS PREVAILED IN ORLANDO FLORIDA
While badly needing an alternative to the fake left-right divison plaguing US society, American will not get a much needed, credible libertarian "third choice" for yet one another year. Here's why.
….
[[ My COMMNENT: (based on 4 hours watching this Convention in C-SPAN). The Libertarian party supposed to be the party for small business entrepreneurs (the kind of middle class ruined by the neoliberal economics run by big Corp) BUT IT WAS CAPTURED by a billionaire selected as VP candidate.  The convention showed that the libertarian party is not anymore the party of a ruined middle class. The second voted candidate for VP was a middle class entrepreneur that wanted to be VP candidate because his long sacrifice for the party but happens that he was a Muslim. He survive  all family fatalities with dignity and courage, even though he never stop financing his party. He is a real libertarian, not the type of profiteers of neoliberalism via fraud, pillage and nasty speculation abroad like Trump and Hillary. The Convention thrives to elect him but the corrupted money prevailed & buy this election too. The libertarian party lose the chance of showing racial & ideological pluralism. He was excluded during the process of counting votes just when  several people complained about miss-counting and calling for recount. The farce created uneasy environment .. People suspected that the candidate for Presidence was sided in favor of a big billionaire for VP, a person who had not background in the party, an opportunist who just came to be member of this party during this election process.  “Y need you vote for this VP because is the instrument that I need to win this election” suggested the elected candidate for a Presidency. What a mistake .. money was the reason why a long time party member was excluded as VP. It was exactly at this moment of uncertainty that a clown undressed in front of the public, causing a huge disconcert in the auditorium. People suspected that this party member was bought by Trump to derail the Convention. How much he received from Trump. .. nobody knows. But it was clear that he came prepared to do this show. By doing this nudity he dissolved the seriousness of the event. When this type of disruption come to political Conventions is a bad sign; it happened to Hillary in Las Vegas and she now is almost out the race. I do not believe in curse or witchcraft  but certainly the emissary of Trump caused a lot of damage to the libertarian party. Hugo Adan. May 29-16. ]

If You Think Cultural Fragmentation Is Bad Now.... Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/29/2016 .    We are heading toward a world where we can build our own echo chambers and shut off anything we find offensive or unpleasant. In other words, if you think that cultural fragmentation is bad now — or that the Trump supporters are suggesting extreme measures in order to reimpose a degree of cultural hegemony - you ain’t seen nothing yet. The decentralization of warfare through the adptation of drone technology and things like 3-D printed guns and bullets means that many skirmishes will likely be fought over this stuff again.

ME & WORLD ISSUES

Unintended Consequences: Easy Money = Overcapacity = Trade Wars. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/29/2016   :  So what happens to all that Chinese steel that was on its way to the US and EU before slamming into those prohibitively high tariffs? One of three things: Either it’s sold elsewhere, probably at even steeper discounts, thus pricing US and EU steel exports out of those markets. Or it’s stockpiled in China for future use, thus lowering future demand for new steel production and, other things being equal, depressing tomorrow’s prices. Or many of China’s newly-built steel mills will close, and China will eat the losses related to this malinvestment. Each scenario results in lower prices and financial losses somewhere. Put another way, as far as steel is concerned, the world’s fiat currencies are rising in value, which is the common definition of deflation.

UK To Stockpile Tanks, Heavy Equipment Close To Russia's Border.  Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/29/2016   :  As if on cue, NATO made it even more explicit that its primary prerogative remains to provoke Russia into an offensive move, when over the weekend the Times reported that the British military may soon start stockpiling tanks and other heavy equipment in Eastern Europe as part of NATO's military beef up close to Russia's border. The decision may come at the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw in July.

WASHINGTON BLOG

By Chris Hedges
Matthew Desmond’s book, “Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City,” like Barbara Ehrenreich’s “Nickel and Dimed,” is a heartbreaking snapshot of the rapacious exploitation and misery we inflict on the most vulnerable, especially children. It is a picture of a world where industries have been created to fleece the poor, and destroy neighborhoods and ultimately lives. It portrays a judicial system that has broken down, a dysfunctional social service system and the license in neoliberal America to carry out unchecked greed, no matter what the cost.
