25 Years Of Fed Fueled M&A - The Enabling Of A Banking Oligopoly. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/26/2016 : Between 1990 and 2010, eventually 37 banks would become JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Citigroup. The “Big Four” retail banks in the United States collectively hold 45% of all customer bank deposits for a total of $4.6 trillion... as the biggest got biggest-er all thanks to the very visible hand of The Fed's free money. [ CENTRALIZATION OF FINANCIAL CAPITAL IN AMERICA. ]

Competition from small banks has dried up as a result. A study byGeorge Mason University found that over the last 15 years, the amount of small banks in the country has decreased by -28%.

Big banks, on the other hand, are doing relatively quite well. There are now 33% more big banks today than there were in 2000.

Oil Prices In 2016 Will Be Determined By These 6 Factors. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/26/2016 : Today’s pricing sentiment is driven by a global economic “Pick 6” today…

1. US production rates,
2. Saudi Arabia’s ability to grow production,
3. Iran’s latent ability to produce more oil,
4. Chinese economic slowdown and its impact on consumption,
5. Russia’s ability to add global production, and
6. OPEC’s inscrutable strategy.

Peter Schiff On The End Of The Illusion Of Recovery. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/26/2016 : Our economy is addicted to QE and zero rates, and without those supports, we will spiral back into recession. This is the reality that the mainstream tried mightily to ignore the past several years. But the chickens are coming home to roost, and they have a great many eggs to lay. In the end, stimulus does not create actual growth, but merely the illusion of it.

Why A Former Fed Official Fears A Global Meltdown. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/26/2016. : "The Fed’s monetary policy of extraordinarily low interest rates helped create the asset bubbles in stock and commodity prices that are now bursting. In retrospect, the Fed’s rate hike last month will likely be viewed as monetary malpractice. None of this is likely to forestall turmoil in credit markets. Investors are wise to be worried..."

The Self-Serving Apologists For Student Debt-Serfdom. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/26/16 : Everyone who isn't blinded by self-interest sees that the cost of higher education in America - and the way we pay for it, by turning students into debt-serfs - is unsustainable. Those benefiting richly from the bloated, ineffective bureaucracy see no alternative, of course; their self-serving handwringing would be laughable if it wasn't so destructive to the nation and the economy.

POLITICS
Politicians Admit The System Is Corrupt; Controlled By Special Interests. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/26/2016 : Politicians are all corrupt; those few who do initially join to "help the people" either soon get corrupted, or are mulched out of the system. None are more corrupt than those who are at the very top of American politics; the so-called "survivors." Some politicians made the mistake of admitting their own wrong-doings, and others have "whistleblow"-ed on the corrupt nature of American politics.
