A
1,000 Mile Stretch Of The Pacific Ocean Has Heated Up Several Degrees And
Scientists Don’t Know Why. Submitted by Tyler
Durden on 04/14/2015. According to two University of Washington scientific
research papers that were recently released, a 1,000 mile stretch of the
Pacific Ocean has warmed up by several degrees, and nobody seems to know why
this is happening. This giant “blob” of warm water was first observed
in late 2013, and it is playing havoc with our climate. And since
this giant “blob” first showed up, fish and other sea creatures have been dying
in absolutely massive numbers.

Ron
Paul Asks "Who Profits?" From The New Militarism. Submitted
by Tyler Durden on 04/14/2015. One of the most
pervasive and dangerous myths of our time is that military spending benefits an
economy. This could not be further from the truth. Such spending benefits a
thin layer of well-connected and well-paid elites. It diverts scarce resources
from meeting the needs and desires of a population and channels them into
manufacturing tools of destruction. The costs may be hidden by the
money-printing of the central banks, but they are eventually realized in the
steady destruction of a currency.

Russian-Iranian
Cooperation In The Creation Of New Regional Security Systems. Submitted
by Tyler Durden on 04/14/2015. It is quite obvious
that Russia cannot substitute the West and in particular European countries
with someone else. It is impossible for historical and cultural reasons, the
abundance of industrial relations, geographical proximity and so on. Moscow
can however substantially weaken such dependency through the strengthening of
political, military, financial and economic relations with other countries
which are friendlier and less susceptible to pressure from Washington.
Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) holds a special place amongst countries friendly
to the Russian government, and strategic dialogue is being actively developed
with it.

Banks Made The Whole World “Buy Time”... There Are Signs We’re Beginning To
Sell It. Submitted by Tyler
Durden on 04/14/2015. Can you arbitrage time? Can you buy
and sell time? We think that you can from the perspective of time horizons.
In our view, financial markets are operating on the wrong time horizon – one
that is too long (thanks to central banks ZIRP/NIRP and credit creation) -
although there are signs that this is beginning to change.

IMF
Forecasts Greece Will Be Europe's Fastest Growing Country; Makes Fun Of Its Own
Predictions. Submitted by Tyler
Durden on 04/14/2015.
Making fun of the IMF, which has become a
quarterly tradition here, has an increasingly sad aspect to it: like
picking on a mentally disabled person, and we do it with the greatest of
reservations. However, we will continue doing it becuase today, in addition to
its latest set of global and regional growth projections, the IMF has provided
some serious ammo for mockery but most notably, it is now making fun of itself
too!
First, here is the latest summary of IMF GDP expectations,
as mapped by the organization itself.
Tthe biggest reason why we would avoid anything the IMF
forecasts like the plage, is taken from its 2016 GDP forecast for Europe (a
continent which the IMF now sees growing by 1.5% and 1.6% in 2015 and 2016 mind
you, forecasts which will soon be revised far lower once the ECB's QE fails to
boost anything but tock markets).
It is in this forecast that we find that the IMF assumes
that the fastest growing nation in the Eurozone in 2016 will be, drumroll...
Yes, Greece, the same country which moments ago the IMF's
chief economist Blanchard admitted may very well not be in
Europe!
- IMF VERY MUCH WANTS TO COME TO AGREEMENT WITH GREECE: BLANCHARD
- GREEK EXIT FROM EURO WOULD BE COSTLY, PAINFUL: BLANCHARD
So yeah. Comedy.

More
Than Half Of Welfare Spending Goes To Working Families. Submitted by Tyler
Durden on 04/14/2015. "Nearly three-quarters (73 percent) of
enrollees in America’s major public support programs are members of working
families; the taxpayers bear a significant portion of the hidden costs of
low-wage work in America," a new study finds, suggesting that when it
comes to straining the public purse, "bad" jobs may be a bigger
problem than "no" jobs. [Perhaps both of them]

Chaos
And Hegemony - How US Dollar Imperialism Dominates The World. Submitted
by Tyler Durden on 04/14/2015. To maintain its
hegemony, the U.S. must by all means prevent the emergence of rival powers and
impede possible current as well as future threats that could emanate from oil
states. The ideal condition for enforcing its own goals at a low cost would
be the fragmentation of antagonistic power centers through ethnic and religious
strife, civil wars, chaos and deep-seated mistrust in the Middle East – always
following the well-known premise of ‘divide and rule.’ In fact, we are
currently experiencing tremendous changes towards such a chaotic state of
affairs.

“We
Have Met The Enemy And He Is Us”. Submitted by Tyler
Durden on 04/14/2015. Neither Russia nor China is an imminent threat to the
US, but a cataclysmic event is looming in the economic front, one which will
forever change the perception of America by the rest of the world; or how we, Americans,
perceive ourselves. It’s back to what that great cartoonist (and sociopolitical
commentator), Walt Kelly, told us a half century ago as America struggled
during the Vietnam War:
“We have met the enemy and he is us.”

"We're
Living In A Gambling Society" BlackRock's Larry Fink Urges CEOs To Stop
"Short-Termist" Thinking. Submitted by Tyler
Durden on 04/14/2015. As the ongoing
collapse in economic productivity continues in America, and Alan
Greenspan's concerns grow, the call for an end to the diversion of
corporate spending to instantly shareholder-friendly actions comes from an
unusual source. Larry Fink - CEO of the largest asset manager in the world -
has unleashed a letter to 500 CEOs around the world - telling them that "the
effects of the short-termist phenomenon are troubling both to those seeking
to save for long-term goals such as retirement and for our broader economy,”
bucking the dividend/buyback trend that investors are demanding. As
NYTimes notes, the shortsightedness that pervades corporate America is just
a symptom of a larger issue. "This is not just a corporate problem,"
Fink explains, "It's a societal problem, we’re currently living in a
"gambling society."

$269 Million DOE Loan Causes Major Controversy . Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/14/2015. No doubt smarting
from criticism about its lack of success in picking winners in alternative
energy vehicles, the Department of Energy has given initial approval for a
$269 million loan to a proven winner – Alcoa’s high-strength aluminum to make
vehicles lighter and more fuel efficient. But the new loan came under
immediate fire for being superfluous since Alcoa was proceeding with the plant
with or without DOE assistance.

EU Bond Risk Surges As Grexit Contagion Spreads. Submitted by Tyler
Durden on 04/14/2015. Despite all the money-printing, bond-buying,
ponzi-scheming; the looming reality of a possible Greek default is spreading
rapidly across the rest of peripheral European bonds. Greek 3Y bond yields
are up 167bps, breaking over 23% today. The last week has seen Italian,
Portuguese, and Spanish bond risk rise 12-16bps - a dramatic move off such
low Q€-driven bases. Already there is chatter that Spain's resurgent Podemos
party will look to negotiate restructuring their debt, which merely confirms
the fact that for all the bluster, EU leaders are scared stiff of the
implications of 'allowing' Greece to exit...
