"There Are Big, Big Problems" - The Shocker Crushing The Economy Revealed. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. According to the CMI, the Rejections of Credit Applications index just crashed the most ever, surpassing even the credit crunch at the peak of the Lehman crisis: "There is quite obviously some serious financial stress manifesting in the data and this does not bode well for the growth of the economy going forward. These readings are as low as they have been since the recession started and to see everything start to get back on track would take a substantial reversal at this stage.... The signal this sends is that many companies are not nearly as healthy as it has been assumed and that there is considerably less resilience in the business sector than assumed."

The FBI Is Using "Aggressive Deception" To Cover Up Saudi Links To 9/11 Attack. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. Former Democratic Sen. Bob Graham, who in 2002 chaired the congressional Joint Inquiry into 9/11, maintains the FBI is covering up a Saudi support cell in Sarasota for the hijackers - “One thing that irritates me is that the F.B.I. has gone beyond just covering up, trying to avoid disclosure, into what I call aggressive deception,” He says the al-Hijjis’ “urgent” pre-9/11 exit suggests “someone may have tipped them off” about the coming attacks. “The 28 pages primarily relate to who financed 9/11, and they point a very strong finger at Saudi Arabia as being the principal financier,” he said, adding, “I am speaking of the kingdom,” or government, of Saudi Arabia, not just wealthy individual Saudi donors.

Politicians & The Manipulated Crowd. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. Life and happiness in this life under any political system directly depend upon how much our individuality (versus the crowd) is retained and to what extent we throw off manipulated illusions. Fewer and fewer people have any cognitive imperative to question the system because hypnosis and learned behavior are transferred from one generation to another. False beliefs are self-perpetuating and feed upon one another. The more generations accepting myths, the more reinforcing they become. The creation of the mass mind and/or mass consciousness is the secret weapon of the ruling elite.

When The Supreme Court Stopped Economic Fascism In America. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. In spite of the landmark decision 80 years ago against the imposition of economic fascism in America, the U.S. government has continued to grow in power over the American people. But it should be remembered that men of courage, integrity, and principle can stand up to Big Brother and resist the headlong march into economic tyranny. That unanimous Supreme Court decision in 1935 was one bright example of it.

California Is "A Totally Artificial World Of Water Use" & Desalination Can't Fix It. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. Like many other towns in California, Santa Barbara is projecting a significant water shortfall in 2017. The solutions, being proposed for now, are extreme water conservancy, desalination plants, and sewage recycling following Jerry Brown's diktat that  "as Californians, we have to pull together and save water in every way we can." However, others insist that conserving water will not be enough, "I don't think we can really conserve our way out of this problem, this problem being a combination of drought and of incredibly high water demand by a growing population and climate change," warns NASA scientist Jay Famiglietti and environmentalists exclaim "we don't even know how much we need because we waste so much; we live in a total artificial world of water use and water supply." As we noted before, this is just beginning.

John Michael Greer Warns "The God Of Technological Progress May Well Be Dead". Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. The new normal is a global faith in inexorable technological advancement as a cure-all to every predicament we face. In many ways, it's become the dominant religion of the 21st century. Sadly, there are a growing number of threats for which 'improved' technologies actually exacerbate the risks (particularly in regards to depleting critical resources) -- but society refuses to acknowledge this, as it runs counter to the tech-as-savoir meme so many are pinning their hopes on...

Paul Craig Roberts: "America Will Be Hard Pressed To Survive The Lies It Lives". Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. Everywhere in the West monstrous lies stand unchallenged. The lies are institutionalized in history books, course curriculums, policy statements, movements and causes, and in historical memory. America will be hard pressed to survive the lies that it lives.

Blinder Leading The Blind. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. Princeton University and former vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Alan Blinder unleashes his self-serving smorgasbord of Fed apologism in today's WSJ Op-Ed. The Fed should be patient-er for longer, he explains; and as far as the "loudly and frequently worried 'impatience crowd'," Blinder states, fears of policy "causing financial-market 'distortions' and bubbles might burst, causing untold damage to our economy," can apparently be ignored because, as he explains "none of the hypothesized financial hazards have surfaced." So - because we haven't crashed yet... policy is right - "This is a time to be patient."

What's Really Behind The U.S Crude Oil Build. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. Prices from late 2016 into 2018 are essentially flat in the low to mid 60s, believe it or not, which would essentially bankrupt most of OPEC, US conventional oil, part of US shale and deep offshore drilling. So ask where is the oil going to come from? Yet the madness continues until investors realize E&P companies need a higher price to justify investments in the space.

Foodstamp Financiers: Wells Fargo Workers Protest Re-Emergence Of Predatory Practices. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. One of America’s biggest banks is going to be protested by an unlikely group today: its employees. As The Guardian reports, Wells Fargo bankers are protesting the bank’s alleged predatory practices – mainly the sales quotas imposed on some of its workers (which have led to at least 30 employees opening duplicate accounts, sometimes without customers’ knowledge, in order to inflate their sales numbers). One worker warns, “it is not in Wells Fargo’s best interest for customers to purchase products and services they don’t use or need.” Now where have we seen this kind of activity before? Wells Fargo bank workers are not the only ones struggling to make ends meet without breaking ethical standards as bank tellers have collected as much as $105m in food stamps.

"We Have Come To The End Of The Road" - Greece Prepares For Default, FT Reports. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. Update: as always is the case in Europe, nothing is confirmed until it is officially denied by officials, so here you go: GREEK GOVT OFFICIAL DENIES FT REPORT GREECE PLANNING DEFAULT
It should hardly come as a surprise that after the latest round of Greek pre-negotiation negotiations with the Troika, in which the Greek representative was said to behave like a taxi driver, who "just asked where the money was and insisted his country would soon be bankrupt" and in which the Eurozone members "were disappointed and shocked at Athens' lack of movement in its plans, and in particular its reluctance to talk about cutting civil servants' pensions" that the next Greek step is to fall back - yet again - to square zero: threats of an imminent default. Which is precisely what, according to the FT, has happened "Greece is preparing to take the dramatic step of declaring a debt default unless it can reach a deal with its international creditors by the end of April."

The Best And Worst Performing Hedge Funds In 2015 . Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. Any year in which two of the best performing hedge funds are two of our old-time favorites, the aptly named Keynes Leveraged Quantitative Strategies and even more aptly named Tulip Trend Fund, you know is going to be one of "those" years. Only this time joining them at the top after the first quarter is also the Russian Prosperity Fund, while making an unexpected and welcome appearance in the top 10 is none other than everyone's favorite outspoken, if rather timid in recent years, scot: Hugh Hendry's Eclectica, which has returned 14% YTD.

Russia Warns "Attempts At Isolation Are Counterproductive & Useless". Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. Attempts to isolate Russia and ignore its position are useless and counterproductive, State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin said on Monday, ahead of the decision to lift sanctions on anti-aircraft missiles to Iran. With the Russian stock market among the top performers of the year and The Ruble the strongest currency in the world this year, it appears he may be on to something...

The Changing World Of Work I: America's Nine Classes. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. The conventional CLASS STRUCTURE is divided along the lines of income, i.e. the wealthy, upper middle class, middle class, lower middle class and the poor. But this 3.5-class structure did not capture the changing nature of employment, income and wealth/political power; which more appropriately subdivides into America's socio-economic spectrum into nine classes. This is neofeudal, a term we use to describe a society and economy dominated by financialization and the apex of wealth and political power that wealth buys. The classes below this apex are either tax donkeys, Upper Caste technocrats serving the apex, or the lower classes that are bought off with social welfare and various modern iterations of bread and circuses.

Proxy War Escalates: Russia Lifts Ban On Selling Anti-Aircraft Missiles To Iran. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015. UPDATE: *RUSSIA WILL SUPPLY S-300 TO IRAN QUICKLY: INTERFAX
We showed yesterday the web of interconnected rifts and relationships among The Middle East's local and proxy war members and it seems this morning tensions are escalating once again. As Bloomberg reports, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Monday lifting a ban on the delivery of S-300 anti-missile rocket systems to Iran. The ban was introduced by former President Dmitry Medvedev in 2010 under pressure from the West following UN sanctions imposed on Iran over its nuclear program.

Lemmings Look Like A Pack Of Individualists Compared To Wall Street. by Jim Quinn via The Burning Platform blog. Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/13/2015  Since most of you are too lazy to read Hussman’s brilliant analysis every week, I’ve picked out the key paragraphs from this week’s letter. For the really lazy, I’ve bolded the key sentences. The lemmings on Wall Street are still confident as they march in lockstep towards the cliff.
“A group of lemmings looks like a pack of individualists compared with Wall Street when it gets a concept in its teeth.”- Warren Buffett
About 8% of market history falls into the present set of market conditions (essentially characterized by extreme overvalued, overbought, overbullish conditions that are coupled with deterioration in market internals or credit spreads on our measures). To the extent that air pockets, free-falls and crashes have reasonably identifiable commonalities, this 8% of history captures what we view as the essential features.
In any event, present conditions are not favorable (or even flat) on our measures, and despite week-to-week variation, the average outcome of present conditions has been wicked.
