FINANCIAL NEOLIBERAL SPECULATION IS GETTING OVER
There was one question everyone wanted answered in John Stumpf's
interview with the WSJ today: who does the buck stop with at Wells Fargo? Alas it
remained unanswered - Stumpf wouldn’t comment on who was ultimately responsible for the practices and
sales-driven culture that led employees to open as many as two million accounts
without customers’ knowledge. Stumpf said that at the bank, "There was no
incentive to do bad things."

In a rather stunning development, moments ago Interactive Brokers
unveiled a previously unseen warning, one called a "Mandatory
Cap Price", which warns traders that the brokerage may set a cap, a floor
or outright cancel any order that would otherwise be marketable, due to a "price
that is not consistent with a fair and orderly market."
Needless to say, for
traders agreeing that they are willing to
"trade" only based on what some arcane algorithm decides is a "fair and orderly market", or
otherwise get kicked out, leads to numerous questions, chief among which
is: just what does IB know about what may be about to happen, and why is the most basic function of a marketplace - the
exchange between a willing buyer and seller - suddenly compromised?
Ultimately, price caps should only impact market orders, which means HFTs
will have a harder time to frontrun "liquidity providers",
however the fact that the interference here is the
result of exchange mediation based on some unknown protocol is mildly
disturbing.

OIL DILEMAS

After yesterday's torrid rally, which sent
stocks higher the most in 2 months on the back of Lael Brainard
surprisingly dovish comments, we have seen an
unexpected profit-taking session overnight in ES, with US equity futures down
0.6%, driven largely by a renewed drop in oil prices which slid after the IEA
said a surplus in global markets will last longer than initially estimated,
persisting well into 2017 as reported
previously.

Earlier today the IEA revealed a much more
pessimistic outlook on the state of the oil market, predicting that a
sharp slowdown in global oil demand growth, coupled with ballooning inventories
and rising supply means the crude
market will be oversupplied into late 2017. The
reason: a "dramatic deceleration
in China and India” this quarter coupled with “vanishing growth” in developed
economies.

Following last week's epic crude inventory drawdown, the market expected a
post-hurricane build of 4mm barrels, but API reported a mere 1.4mm build. However, a massive build in
Distillates inventories (+5.3mm - biggest in 8 months) confused
the machines. WTI had fallen back to a $44 handle - erasing all the
inventory-draw-spike gains - before API data hit; but then spiked to last
week's API levels, tumbled, then spiked again...

Statista details, 500 people have been murdered
in Chicago this year, more than Los Angeles and New York
combined. .. The number of homicides has hit a 20-year
high and the city hasn't experienced a
single day without someone being murdered since February of last year.

conference in London, notorious hacker
'Guccifer' shared over 500Mb of documents detailing 100,000 DNC donors contact info and
donations. A large number of the
largest donors received senior diplomatic or political positions following the
donations, ranging from UK Ambassador to Assistant Attorney General.
The DNC released a statement pre-emptively claiming that this was the work
of Russia (and reigniting Trump's links to Putin).
The dcoments contained
detailed lists of 100,000 alledged donors, addresses, and phone numbers, and
well as amounts donated...
The
DNC responded to the latest hack
claim Tuesday through its Interim Chair Donna Brazile, who stated that the “DNC is the victim of a crime,” which she blamed on “Russian state-sponsored agents,” while also
cautioning that the hacked documents were still being authenticated by the DNC
legal team, as “it is common for Russian hackers to
forge documents.” DNC pre-emptively published a statement in an
attempt to change the narrative...
Once again blaming Russia (and Trump)... As RT
reports, it's
not the first time that the name of Vladimir Putin has been brought up in the
US presidential campaign, but this time the US president used this “argument”
while openly campaigning for Clinton against Trump. The situation
has become “really ludicrous and it borders on the ridiculous,” believes
Gregory R. Copley, editor of Defense & Foreign Affairs.

appears Richard M. Lobo’s wife, Caren Lobo, donated $716,000 to DNC. Obama then nominated Richard Lobo for Director of the
International Broadcasting Bureau.

He covers Google’s
motives for wanting to influence people to vote for Clinton, and research his
team is conducting that illustrates how Google may be doing it, which includes
selectively censoring content. He finds that the company could
potentially be shifting tens of millions of votes in Clinton’s favor.

suppresses negative suggestions selectively, not across the board. It is easy
to get autocomplete to suggest negative searches related to prominent people,

Hillary’s bid for the presidency
is no longer defensible; it’s time to bring back Bernie Sanders as the
Democratic nominee. The issue isn’t
Hillary Clinton’s health per se; Hillary Clinton has disqualified herself to be
President of the United States because she is incapable of telling the truth
about anything. There is no such thing as truth or transparency in the Clinton
persona and campaign; everything is an ongoing experiment in perception
management.
Hillary is clearly incapable of honesty–the word has no
meaning, because all communication is aimed at concealing or obscuring the
facts of the matter and defending what is visibly indefensible as if
perception management is the same as the truth. It is not the same, but
Hillary is incapable of discerning the difference.
