The US calls on Russia, to “pressure Syria”, come as US-ally Saudi Arabia started arming al-Qaeda brigades in Syria with advanced anti-aircraft and anti-tank missile systems.

The Russian Foreign Minister denounced what he described as deliberate attempts to hold the Syrian government responsible for the atrocious crimes through lies and manipulation of facts, while statistics prove that the greater part of complicated issues is caused by the behavior of extremist terrorist groups, not the Syrian government.

US calls on Russia to pressure the Syrian government come, as Saudi Arabia begins delivering advanced anti-aircraft and anti-tank missile systems to mercenaries via Jordan and Turkey, and as a new assault wave is being expected by early March.

Analysts documented that Saudi Arabia could not deliver these weapons systems without an explicit approval from the United States; adding that US Special Forces work in close liaison with the commanders of Al-Qaeda brigades in Syria and determine which weapons systems can or cannot be deployed in the theater.

No “Humanitarian Convoys” from Outside Syria without Supervision by Syrian Authorities.

Sergei Lavrov stressed that the Security Council would not permit humanitarian convoys from outside Syria without approval from the Syrian authorities, as this would set a precedent in contradiction with international law.

Lavrov noted, that there are discussions at the Council in order to reach consensus on a resolution to resolve the humanitarian situation in Syria. He asserted, that Russia will not allow a Security Council resolution which leads to interfering in Syria under humanitarian pretexts to pass. He added, that it is impossible to assess what some countries are willing to do behind the back of the Security Council.

Analysts have warned since October 2013, that there would be attempts to abuse a Presidential Letter on Syria, which was unanimously adopted by the Security Council, and which for the first time introduced the “Responsibility To Protect” principle into the Syrian equation.

It was argued, that this letter would be used to argue for allowing “humanitarian convoys” to cross the Syrian border, beyond the control of the Syrian government, as well as for the establishment of “humanitarian corridors”. While Russia’s top-diplomat stopped short of going into details, it is well documented that especially Turkey has hosted the kind of abuse Lavrov alluded to.

The Turkish, Muslim Brotherhood associated charity IHH, has been particularly active with regard to abusing its “humanitarian cover”. The Foundation for Human Rights, Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH), which is operating in more than 100 countries, has been designated a terrorist organization in The Netherlands.

In January 2014, the IHH was implicated in smuggling weapons from Turkey into Syria in trucks, registered as transporting humanitarian aid. The IHH has also been implicated in using ambulances for both smuggling arms and mercenaries from Turkey into Syria while smuggling injured or exhausted fighters, including Al-Qaeda members from Syria into Turkey on the return trip.

Two days later, on 16 January, the IHH became directly implicated in the mass killing of Syrian civilians when Turkish police raided several IHH offices. The Turkish newspaper Aydinlik Daily, which is known for having extremely well informed intelligence sources, reported that it is known that the headquarters of the ICC has been unofficially financed by Turkey’s intelligence service MIT.
