A PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT TO END ALL WAR

INTRODUCTION from Hugo Adan.  Feb 13, 2014

Here we have a collection of good “words” about war;  they are just good intentions useful either to pave the route to hell or to profit from it. If action count more than words, we should remember that the more radical pacifist  movements emerged not in the countries that benefit directly or indirectly from wars abroad, but in the nations victimized by such wars. That is the case of Viet Nam where people burned themselves in public plazas, instead of been burned by Napalm. Even though, such radical movement didn’t stop wars; poor people and working middle classes continue to be the main victims of wars, while the rich –especially those who directly or indirectly profit from wars- leaf the country, and then after came back to do the same, over and over across history. How to end this cycle?.  The answer should be common sense.  Read 6 & 7 statements below and provide an answer.

Think first about these 5 half trues:

1. “Everybody’s worried about stopping terrorism [and wars, I would add] . Well, there’s a really easy way: stop participating in it.” — Noam Chomsky.  [But,  your stop, won’t stop the profiteers of war]

2. “War is a crime against humanity. When 90% of the casualties of war are civilians including children, it is time to End ALL WARS! - David Hartsough.  [but civilians are also the rich who profit from wars]

3. “It is time for a re-energized effort to build a world beyond war by challenging the war system and supporting the infrastructure of peace.” — Patrick Hiller. [but “war system” & “infrastructure of peace” are empty words if we do not mention the capitalist obsolete system and the neoliberal infrastructure for war:  weapons and weapons to conquest, destroy & plunder poor countries with policies that only serve big corporations and not the poor working classes inside nor outside]

4. “War cannot be humanized. It can only be abolished” [said by just the one who help to create the atomic bomb. “A Eisten did not directly participate in the invention of the atomic bomb. But he was instrumental in facilitating its development  [and use]..  Einstein's greatest role in the invention of the atomic bomb was signing a letter to President Franklin Roosevelt urging that the bomb be built” http://www.doug-long.com/einstein.htm .   The statement of humanized vs. abolished only serve to illustrate a tale on “paradoxes of history”]

5. “War is organized murder, and nothing else” – Harry Patch. [someone said this in the funeral of HP saying that such words belong  to the British ‘war hero” who killed many people during the 1st world war. Another paradoxical statement. The meaning of this statement is right.. but.. Who organize those  murderous wars..  the poor working classes of Britain?. Not, they are not Brutish to do so. But we have a similar type of hero in the US.. Do you remember who said “Either we end war, or war will end us”. Just another paradoxical statement  coming from the one who was deeply involved in killing Vietnamese people and in the criminal blockage on Cuba. When we deplore the Guantanamo torture center in the piece of land not returned to Cuba, we should remember him: JFK]

6. “War destroys people, the air, the ground, the water. It destroys history. It inhales money/resources literally taking food out of the mouths of the people.” —Barbara Cummings.  [war inhales money, resources and takes food out of the mouths of the people. So, war is a business of the rich against common people]

7. “War is the worst act of terrorism and among the greatest causes of human suffering and death and ecological degradation. Wars are declared by the rich and fought by the poor.” —Brian J. Trautman. [That is what I wanted to hear, it comes from a brain of common people… Common sense.. ah]

Now,  if Wars are declared by the rich WHAT the poor should do today, that is coming another war?...  No war ahead??...  Come on, check what is going on in Ukraine and Syria.  We are beating the drums of war, we are at the edge of war. What we should do?...  WHAT?  YES.. I agree with that!!
