Higher rates and a stronger dollar are making money tighter: so tight in fact, that some are wondering if the Fed's next move may be to delay the next rate hike, if not proceed to outright easing.

Large, broad stock market rallies like last week’s can either kick-start a major up-move or signify an exhaustive end to a rally.

For a record 27th straight month, US import prices declined in October (-0.2% YoY) despite a surge in fuels and lubricants (up 7.2% MoM). China continues to export its deflation abroad with imported prices at the lowest since Oct 2010 even as Asia near-East saw a surge in export prices.

Manufacturing firms in New York State reported that business activity was essentially flat in November, with the general business conditions index climbed out of negative territory for the first time in four months, rising eight points to 1.5 above the expected -2.5. However, in a troubling sign, both employment indicators declined notably, while inventory levels hit a 4 year low, as optimism about the future posted a modest decline.

US retail sales beat expectations in October (+0.8% vs +0.6% exp) and September's gains were also upwardly revised (driven by a surge in gas prices which sparked a decline in spending on food services). This data revision sends year-over-year gains to a 4.3% - the highest since Nov 2014 - leaving Janet and her friends fewer excuses to hike rates in December. Department Store sales crashed over 7% YoY as non-store retailers grew at almost 13%.

WTI Crude prices are lower after API reported a bigger than expected build in crude inventories (+3.66 vs +1mm exp) and the biggest Cushing build since August. The machines managed to tag the stops at the high of the day for WTI as gasoline drew down (though less than expected) but Distillates saw the biggest build since September.

Just as Morgan Stanley warned, be careful getting too bearish into the OPEC meeting as OPEC's ability to engineer a short-squeeze (via well-placed but meaningless headlines) trumps any dismal fundamentals. Sure enough, WTI is surging by the most in 7 weeks to pre-Algiers levels on spurious headlines today, which builds on a reversal yesterday that started as President Obama discussed the Iran Deal.

It appears today was the "opposites" Day
  • After days of carnage, the Mexican Peso surged
  • After a meltup, US financials tumbled (but were magically bid late on to close green
  • The divergence between Nasdaq and Dow began to close
  • After 6 straight down days, bonds rallied and the curve flattened
  • EM Stocks and Bonds rallied after bloodbathing
  • Copper traded lower

Some was more of the same..
  • Dollar Index surged to new cycle highs - biggest surge in 18 months
  • USDJPY exploded over 109.00 to 5 month highs
  • Offshore Yuan crashed to another record low
  • Stocks continue to rise
  • Despite the crazy vol, VIX dropped to 3-week lows with a 13 handle
….
Stocks started the day off badly, but bounced back valiantly as JPY and Oil soared...

The Dollar Index rose for the 7th day in a row (the biggest surge since May 2015)

It's ugly out there in Risk-Parity (RP) fund land as losses on bonds outweigh gains on stocks as correlations normalize (and volatility drops) echo the plunges experienced during 2013's Taper Tantrum. However, as RBC notes, adjustments to the leverage mechanism with RP strategies means, despite the carnage already, we may not have seen the cross-asset-class spillover yet.

With OPEC’s 2016 World Oil Outlook now grimly forecasting that peak oil demand could become a reality in just over a decade, and natural gas and renewables chomping at the bit to cannibalize commodity market growth, it may be good for Econ environment, but the trade-off will be global instability on a catastrophic level.

With US Treasury yields spiking to extreme 'cheapness' relative to Japanese and German bonds (and stock dividends) it seems a 'value' bid has re-emerged, sparking a notable drop in long-end yields (despite the ongoing collapse in the Yuan to fresh record lows). The Treasury bid is flattening the curve dramatically which in turn is knocking the exuberance out of the ridiculous spike in bank stocks.

“Everything about recent experience,” Paul Krugman says, “suggests that the world desperately needs fiscal expansion to boost demand and… that our sole reliance on central banks isn’t working. However, the “recent experience” Krugman refers to doesn’t actually back his case.

IT IS TIME TO SUE SOROS: A little girl dies because anti-trump protesters. Soros betrayed the US

"I had a patient die during a transfer last night because our ambulance was stopped by protesters and had to drive an extra 45 minutes around the blocked roads.  They can give their fucking safety pins to my patient’s fatherless 4 year old daughter."

All damages created to private business, houses, cars cannot be covered  with impunity

Two months ago, Charlotte police confirmed that 70% of those arrested during the riots were from out-of-state. 18 months before that, as the riots flared in Ferguson, George Soros spurred the protest movement through years of funding and mobilizing groups across the U.S., according to financial records reviewed by The Washington Times. And now, amid more headlines of Soros' involvement, KGW reports that more than half of the anti-Trump protesters arrested in Portland were from out of state.

The opportunity is at hand for Trump to reconfigure U.S. foreign policy to the world we now inhabit, and to the vital interests of the United States. The ideal time for such a declaration, a Trump Doctrine, is when the president-elect his secretaries of state and defense.

WORLD ISSUES and ME

Saudi Arabia's first attempt at engaging with Donald Trump amounts to what is effectively a thinly veiled threat wrapped as a warning. As the FT reports, "Saudi Arabia has warned Donald Trump that the incoming US president will risk the health of his country’s economy if he acts on his election promises to block oil imports."

WASHINGTON BLOG

By Robert Parry

Trump’s problem is that he has few fully developed ideas about how to proceed in a presidency that even many of his close followers did not expect would happen. Plus, over the past few decadesthe neocons and their liberal-hawk sidekicks have marginalized almost every dissenting expert, including old-line “realists” who once were important figures.

So, the bench of “confirmable” experts who have dissented on neocon/liberal-hawk policies is very thin. To find national security leaders who would break with the prevailing “group thinks,” Trump would have go outside normal channels and take a risk on some fresh thinkers.

I have long held that our economy is, stripped of propaganda, nothing but an updated version of feudalism, i.e. neofeudal: a vast class of precarious laborers (i.e. precariats–precarious proletariats) who own little to no wealth-producing capital ruled by a New Nobility/Oligarchy that owns the vast majority of wealth-producing capital and control of the political system.

I explained this structure in America’s Nine Classes: The New Class Hierarchy (April 29, 2014),Neofeudalism 101: Strip-Mining the Upper Middle Class (April 8, 2015) and The Class War Has Already Started (November 14, 2015).

In the Marxist analysis, there are only three classes: those who must sell their labor to earn a livelihood, those who earn their livelihood from owning wealth-generating capital, and the dispossessed/ marginalized who are dependent on the state (bread and circuses) or who scrape out a living on the margins of the lawful economy.

In this view, there is no meaningful class difference between the well-paid liberal technocrat with the $1 million (mortgaged) house on the Left/Right Coast and the rural conservative “deplorable” wage earner. Both must sell their labor and neither earns a livelihood from wealth-generating capital.
If we extend this analysis, we find that the entire self-described “middle class” is in fact nothing but the better paid slice of the working class, i.e. the class who must sell their labor to pay their rent/mortgage, buy food, etc.

1-minute US military recruitment ad steeped in irony: VIDEO  https://youtu.be/tYrBSTBHCS4

Among the ironies in this video, people around the world view the US as the greatest threat to peace; voted three times more dangerous than any other country. The data confirm this conclusion:

Lie-started and Orwellian-illegal Wars of Aggression is all the evidence necessary for US military to refuse all war orders (there are no lawful orders for unlawful war), and for officers to arrest those who issue them.

This argument extends to all in US law enforcement agencies for war-related crimes of treason, murders and injuries to US military lied-into illegal Wars of Aggression, and .01% military looting last reported at $6.5 trillion.

As a professional academic, the most accurate description of the US is rogue state illegal empire.

As I explain in hypothetical conversations with George Washington (herehere), the US citizen position seems insufficient to stop the empire without Emperor’s New Clothes recognition among US military and law enforcement that the wars they “serve” are not even close to lawful, and the exact type of armed attacks that US treaties after two world wars were meant to end forever.

Everybody made mistakes the first time in power.
Rational people correct it in time. That is the key for success.
We want Trump to succeed in implementing his promised program
The only way to help to his success is to say how we see our future.
Here my comments on an article published by Press-TV

----
---

The Palestinian land grab was declared illegal multiple times by the UN. We helped to put Israel above international Laws. It is time to correct this error as Trump promised. If he don’t do it he betray our nation expectation. Nobody owes obedience to any crook lead who don’t respect his own words nor the public faith. All systems inside and abroad can be changed if we have the right people and right plan of actions to do it. Trump need to be confirmed by the ELL=COLL and by our NATION.
