IS THE US TERRORISM UNDER INVESTIGATION?

IS THE US TERRORISM UNDER INVESTIGATION?

INTRODUCTION by Hugo Adan  Jan 18, 2014

Hellen Pow, a British Journalist  from http://www.dailymail.co.uk/ showed the brutality of US wars abroad  with photo images that shocked  the world.  The explosive photographs, reportedly taken in Fallujah in 2004, have sparked a Marine Corps investigation, said a reporter from  http://www.4thmedia.org/  This is not the 1st time that pictures of US terrorism has been circulated worldwide. We remember the ones took on Abu Graib,  the prison camp in Afghanistan, and the pictures showing  the assassination of journalists, to mention only few  out of many. The last one caused the indictment and imprisoning of Brad Manning  for “betraying the country”. He is still in prison and one wonders who is really betraying  the  US Nation values  and the US Constitution?.

What Hellen Pow does is questioning the horrors of US wars abroad and the meaning of terrorism.  In the case of Faluya this images may correspond to US retaliation to the terrorist hang-up of several death corpses of American mercenaries (those who work for private companies). They were killed in fair combat and the natives wanted to show that there is resistance. Fatal error, because of this, Faluya was bombed and totally destroyed, reduced to the stone ages.

This fact shows  that war is terrorism in our days since there was not just cause nor respect of proportionality principle. This disrespect t induced  jihadism as response. So, war became terrorism in both sides, the invader bombing and the invaded jihadism. Both of them kills innocent people.  No one is good terrorism, there is not such a thing. Both are despicable and unacceptable in whatever standard of war and ethics.

To ask the US central Command if they know that US terrorism is happening, is silly. They know that the carpet bombing  of entire cities killed civilian population and destroyed their basic civil infrastructure and that is naked  terrorism.  After the carpet bombing,  came the US marines  to finish the job (kill all survivors who may resist the invaders) and burn the death to avoid being touch by the spreading of diseases.  The killing and incineration of the bodies are part of the same job:  terrorism. Of course the US Central Commnad will say NO, our carpet bombings are no terrorism. To expect from them to sanction the fact of terrorism, is also silly and another type of terrorism,  because if they sanction properly, it induces suicide among soldiers.

FACTS  REMAIN:  The war on Iraq was based on false pretexts (not just cause) and it was conducted in a terrorist way (lack of proportionality) and creates jihadism as response (the current pandemic  since later on jahadism was financed and used by the US allies -with support of Saudis and Qatar- to take control of Libya and now Syria) . The most important fact is that this strategy of wars is a disaster for America (it drained our economy and took resources needed inside & it cost many American young life). The final and most important fact is this disaster was caused by top layers of our Government and big corporation’s interests, those who profit from such wars.

MEANING:  Wars abroad will continue destroying America  if we don’t re-define the way our systems works, the system of power. El que a hierro mata, a hierro muere, dice un proverbio bíblico; so, we are condemned to suffer retaliation soon or later. If the war in the Middle East escalates more and more, we risk the chances of getting a nuclear devastation since now the enemies to confront have the same destruction power. It is better to retreat and bring the troops back home now and start the re-building of our country. The way is structured our economic and political system now, it doesn’t work for all, it is good only for a tiny  group of rich people. We need an America in which all Americans can build their own prosperous future.  We need to invest in ourselves, not in wars abroad.

The explosive photographs, reportedly taken in Fallujah in 2004, have already sparked a Marine Corps investigation, but many of the 41 gag-inducing shots are just too grisly to publish.

Two pictures show a Marine pouring what looks like gasoline on the remains of enemy soldiers and another two images appear to show the remains go up in flames. Two more capture the horrifically charred bodies.

Photo 8:  Pickpocket: The Department of Defense said the pictures appear to show U.S. soldiers in violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The code outlines that it is a crime to mishandle remains.

The sick snaps were exclusively obtained by TMZ, (www.tmz.com)   who turned them over to the Pentagon last week, triggering the probe.

According to the website, U.S. Central Command, which is in charge of military operations in the Middle East, reviewed the photos to determine if they had been brought to their attention before.

They determined they had not.

Other horrific pictures show a Marine squatting next to a skull to pose for the camera. His U.S. military uniform is clear, on his face he wears a wide grin and he is pointing his gun at the skeleton.

Another picture shows a soldier rifling through the pockets of the scant remains of an Iraqi soldier.

TMZ said it has withheld the bulk of the images – including one showing a body being eaten by a dog – because they are just too graphic.

It reported seeing well over a dozen dead insurgents in total in the heinous pictures, in various states, including some covered in flies.

The Department of Defense said the pictures appear to show U.S. soldiers in violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The code outlines that it is a crime to mishandle remains.

There is no statute of limitations on the crime, which means the Marines can be prosecuted even if they’re no longer active in the military. If convicted, the soldiers could go to prison.

‘We are aware of photos appearing on TMZ.com that depict individuals in U.S. Marine uniforms burning what appear to be human remains”  Cmdr Bill Speaks, from the Secretary of Defense’s office, told MailOnline Wednesday.

‘The Marine Corps is currently investigating the veracity of these photos, circumstances involved, and if possible, the identities of the service members involved.

‘The findings from this investigation will determine whether we are able to move forward with any investigation into possible wrongdoing.’

Some have suggested the Marines may have been burning the remains as a sanitary measure.

However, Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steven Warren said the proper handling of war remains is set by U.S. military regulation and that the actions depicted in the photos ‘are not what we expect from our service members.’

Cmdr Speaks said the deplorable acts depicted in the images are not representative of the millions of hardworking men and women who have served in the Middle East.

‘The actions depicted in these photos are not what we expect from our service members, nor do they represent the honorable and professional service of the more than 2.5 million Americans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan,’ he told MailOnline.

In 2005 report, U.S. soldiers in Gumbad, Afghanistan were investigated for burning the bodies of two enemy fighters.

The men argued they set alight the corpses for hygienic reasons, after local citizens had not retrieved the bodies after 24 hours.

A report concluded that the action indicated poor judgement but was not a war crime.

It stated: ‘Based on the criminal investigation, there was no evidence to substantiate the allegation of desecration or any violation of the Law of War. However, there was evidence of poor decision-making and judgment, poor reporting and lack of knowledge and respect for local Afghan customs and tradition.’
