Hawkish Powell Hits Stocks; Bitcoin Flat As Breakevens, Bond Yields & Bullion Bounce

...this week saw "get out and party" recovery stocks underperform the "stay at home and sulk" stocks...

A very mixed week across the asset-classes.

Hawkish Powell: rate-hike expectations surged higher but stocks gained, crude rallied but copper tumbled. Growth and Value stocks basically ended the week up around the same amount (while Cyclicals modestly outperformed Defensives). Perhaps most notably, rates vol and stock vol expectations are dramatically decoupled from one another.

Inflation: Breakevens soared to record highs... globally, bullion bounced but bitcoin ended the week unchanged and bonds only modestly higher in yield.

US Manufacturing Survey Slumps To 7-Month-Low, Services Jump In October

"...the upward rise in inflationary pressures also shows no signs of abating..."

Despite the overall trend lower in US macro data, the PMI prints were indeed very mixed with Services surging from 54.9 to 58.2 (well above the 55.2 expected) while Manufacturing stumbled to 59.2 from 60.7 (worse than the 60.5 expected)...

That is the weakest Manufacturing print since March and strongest Services in 3 months.

Under the hood, the latest rise in factory production was the softest since July 2020.

October data also highlighted stronger inflationary pressures across the US economy. Average input prices rose at a survey record pace, with firms attributing higher costs to supply issues, material shortages, greater transport fees and increased wage bills. Subsequently, the rate of selling price inflation for goods and services also hit a new series peak.

The big gain in Services pushed the US Composite up to 57.3 (from 55.0) and back in the lead on a global basis...

Commenting on the PMI data, Chris Williamson, Chief Business Economist at IHS Markit, said:

“October saw resurgent service sector activity as COVID-19 case numbers continued to fall, marking a encouragingly strong start to the fourth quarter for the economy. Hiring has likewise picked up as firms have been encouraged to expand capacity to meet rising demand.

“However, while manufacturers also continue to report strong demand, factory production remains plagued by constraints, including record supply chain bottlenecks and labor shortages. Prices paid by factories for raw materials rose at yet another new record pace as a result, in turn feeding through to both higher prices at the factory gate and spilling over into higher service sector prices. Higher wages are also having to be offered to attract or retain staff, adding to the inflationary pressures.

“Thus, while the economy looks set for stronger growth in the fourth quarter, the upward rise in inflationary pressures also shows no signs of abating.”

So not transitory then?

El problema que se presenta es que instalado en el poder su debilidad es extrema porque, por un lado, tiene la oposición salvaje del empresariado, los medios de prensa, las Fuerzas Armadas que son militantes y agresivas en Perú, un cuadro de poder contrario a cualquier reforma, no solamente a él.”

“Castillo fue invitado a la lista de Perú Libre que absurdamente se llama marxista leninista, pero no era un partido orgánico sino un grupo residual de provincia y como él tenía notoriedad por haber sido dirigente de una huelga importante de maestros, presidió esa lista”

“Los componentes principales de esa lista, un señor llamado Vladimir Cerrón, que se dice marxista leninista, le reclama a Castillo que cumpla el programa que entiende como la solución revolucionaria en el país. Obviamente tiene su grupo, tiene la mayoría de los 37 parlamentarios y le exige a Castillo que cumpla el programa que se habían comprometido: organizar la Asamblea Constituyente”.

Napuri no solo está contra Castillo, también contra Cerrón. Por que este sectaris-vergo

REFORMAS:

MINERIA: Perú es un país que el 70% de sus ingresos provienen de la minería, hubo discusión respecto de la naturaleza de los contratos abusivos que hay ahí.

AGRICULTURA: la reforma agraria que quedó inconclusa despues de Velazco Alvarado.

POLITICA:

Por que Napuri defiende al “Grupo de Lima”?

[A] la salida del Grupo de Lima que tiene “una posición aproximada a los gobiernos llamados progresistas alineados al intento de crear solidaridad sudamericana” [sic].

Como Castillo se comprometió con ellos, ahora este grupo le exige que cumpla con el compromiso electoral común. Pero el Grupo de L es el avispón mas venenoso del US

La derecha no le deja nada y, como EL CAPITALISMO dependiente -o sin capital- no permite reformas Castillo esta dentro de una trampa y condenado al fracaso- no lo dijo asi Napuri pero ese razonar está en su lógica) . Lo raro es que Napuri no ofrecio solucion a la trampa. Se limito a decir : “como lo hemos visto (y dicho) mil veces el reformista tiene que ser REVOLUCIONARIO” (lo que implica asumir que Castillo no es REV)

[B]

Para Napuri “Castillo que no es un marxista, no tiene compromiso con una izquierda militante, fue un dirigente sindical, un hombre honesto, pero tiene una soledad política espantosa. No está en condiciones de presidir y a través de un diagrama estratégico dar soluciones a los problemas del país”.

Dice Napuri que el mismo grupo que apoya a Castilo le exige que cumpla el programa comprometido en la campaña electoral. ‘Ese grupo tampoco es un grupo revolucionario orgánico ni mucho menos, son contestatarios residuales de la época del maoísmo de izquierda’.

Lo que se necesita dice Napuri es ‘encabezar un proceso revolucionario’. Pero Castillo no ha sido preparado para eso, no tiene guías. Y además son minoría en el Parlamento o Congreso y si no tiene mayoría allí no pueden dar garantias de un proceso REV desde arriba.

[C]

“Castillo, que no tiene compromisos con su propia conciencia política (no tiene el pasado glorioso de Napuri) está dando movimientos tratando de defender su gobierno y su propia existencia tirándose a pactar con los sectores centroizquierdistas y centristas como una forma de defenderse. Y estos se han incorporado al gobierno y son los que le han dado la posibilidad de tener ministerios, los 2.000 puestos públicos, etc. Un mínimo de supervivencia.”

Napuri detesta a Castillo por no tener pasado marxista pero al final acepta que Castillo si tuvo habilidad para crear FRENTE (típico marxismo) y habilidad para sobrevivir en un contexto negativo.

Pero como la crisis capitalista actual, golpea mas a los países dependientes, el capital imperialista jamás permitirá reformas radicales. Lo bloqueara como a VEN y Afganistan Por tanto Castillo esta condenado a la derrota. Esta es la lógica de Napuri. Lo cierto es que el frente anti-imperio de RU-CH ha avanzado fuerte y puede ayudar a Perú. Ya lo hizo CHina y lo volverá a hacer.

[D] LOS AUTO GOLPES D ESTADO

“Si Castillo da su viraje a la izquierda moderada, la derecha también están preparando un golpe de Estado, porque en Perú la derecha jamás permitirá una Asamblea Constituyente” dice Napuri. Lo cierto es que la misma derecha ha hecho en Perú auto-golpes de Estado (el de Fujimori fue el último) como ocurrió también en otros países del Mundo. Las nuevas constituciones nacen del asambleísmo regional y convertir a los alcaldes regionales en poder local. Allí nacen los futuros miembro de la Constituyente. A esto se le llama en el US ‘bottom up revolution’
