UN BETRAYAL CONTINUES IN LIBYA. NO SIGN OF WITHDRAWAL of US-NATO FORCES

THE UN BETRAYAL:

1. The UNSC allowed that the original of 1970 Res (of 26 February 2011) be accommodated to foreign military interventionist forces looking for plundering Libyan oil. The UNSC in less than a month approved the demands of the US allies contained in UNSC Res 1973 (March 17, 2011) that took side against peace and favor war in Libya. The UN knew that the main objective of peace & protection of the civilian population of Libya will not be achieved by bombing Libya (“no-fly-zone”). This was not in the 1970 Res and the UN bureaucrats are complicit of crimes against humanity (killing innocent and destroying the civilian infrastructure). Ban Ki-moon and his staff should resign and the International UN Assembly should be called for emergency meeting. France is committing same war crimes -as the US-NATO- in Cote d Ivory. The colonialist practice of changing political regimen via foreign military intervention should be stopped. We need a strong-independent UN in favor of peace. This is why an emergency UN Assembly should be called. The recent declaration of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon's special envoy to Libya (below) is a conclusive evidence of ineffectiveness and dysfunctional role play by the UN in current international affairs. The UN Security Council has no credibility whatsoever. This UN is useless. They –if they have any sense of honor- should call the UN Assembly & resign immediately.

2. The 1970 Res main objective was to respect Libyan sovereignty (also contained but blurred in the 1973 Res by adding the “no-fly-zone imposed by the US diplomacy of war). It clearly stated that the UN mission was restoring peace in Libya by demanding a cease-fire in both parts (government and rebels) to end violence and protect civilians. However, the UNSC Res 1973 suggested that the Libyan state is a threat to international peace and security to further introduce the “no-fly-zone”. This Res 1973 suggested that the “no-fly-zone” was requested by the Arab League assembly, the fact is that the Arab League never meet for such criminal purpose. Read the 1973 Res [what is in brakes is my]:

Reaffirming its strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and national unity of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, [To topple the government was not the objective]

Determining that the situation in the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya continues to constitute a threat to international peace and security, [Now is clear: the US-NATO military intervention in Libya is the real threat to peace and security in the region]

Acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, [Here is clear that the UN is not allow to take sides in domestic conflict & its mission is peace, not promote military intervention]

1. Demands the immediate establishment of a cease-fire and a complete end to violence and all attacks against, and abuses of civilians;

3. The UN Security Council has done exactly the reverse by promoting the US-NATO military intervention. They should request the immediate withdrawal of the US-NATO forces but they cannot do it because they already took side in favor of violence as it is contained in the UN Res 1973, they signed. To leave it without effect is needed another UN Res and this is only possible if a UN International emergency Assembly is called. Meanwhile the UNSC is obsolete, is useless, inoperative. THEY SHOULD RESIGN. The current UNSC can do nothing in favor of peace, this is why UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon's special envoy to Libya declared that “it is hard to determine how long the conflict will last in Libya”. The UNSC create a trouble that they cannot solve. THE UNSC IS OBSOLETE. THE UN ASSEMBLY IS THE SOLUTION. It is an imperative of conscious to set up the UN Assembly. STATE RULERS, STAND UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT: CALL FOR THE UN ASSEMBLY!!!

UN envoy finds it hard to determine how long conflict will last in Libya

UNITED NATIONS, April 4 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon's special envoy to Libya said here Monday that the conflict in the North African country appears to be continuing indefinitely, and that though the Libyan people are responsible for finding a sustainable solution, the international community must continue to provide support.

"At this time, it is still very difficult to know how long it will take for the Libyan conflict to be resolved," Abdelilah Al- Khatib, Ban's special envoy for Libya, said.

Al-Khatib's statements came as he briefed the Security Council on his recent mission to Libya, where he met with both Muammar Gaddafi's government in Tripoli and the rebel Transitional National Council (TNC) based in Benghazi, the rebel stronghold in the east.

In Tripoli, Al-Khatib met with Baghdadi al-Mahmudi, prime minister of Libya, as well as senior members of the Foreign Relations Committee of the People's Congress.
"I reiterated the international community's demand for the full implementation of the Security Council resolution 1970 and 1973 and emphasized the urgent need to immediately stop military action, cease all hostilities against the Libyan population and end the siege of all cities and towns," Al-Khatib said.

Security Council resolution 1970 imposed an arms embargo against Libya and slapped sanctions on members of Gaddafi's inner circle. Resolution 1973 authorized a no-fly zone over Libya.

Al-Khatib said that the Libyan government in Tripoli indicated to him willingness to accept a ceasefire under impartial observers if the TNC does the same.
He then traveled to Benghazi to meet with Mustafa Abdul Jalil, chairman of the TNC. He said that TNC explained to him their " vision of a democratic Libya."

"The initial priority is to restore constitutional legitimacy through a referendum,"

Al-Khatib said. "It outlines their principles and obligations of political democracy, calling for economic prosperity and development; use of science and technology to enhance society; and condemning intolerance, extremism, and violence."
According to Al-Khatib, Jalil said that the TNC is open to the acceptance of a ceasefire under certain conditions.

"The chairman stated that the council was ready and willing to implement a ceasefire, provided that the other party does the same and that such ceasefire includes ending the siege on all western cities, withdrawing military forces, including snipers from the cities and allowing the population to freely express their position," he said.

However, Al-Khatib told the Security Council that the TNC indicated that the aim of the uprising is to get Gaddafi out of power, and thus a ceasefire alone would not be enough to end the conflict.

The special envoy concluded his briefing to the Security Council by noting that the responsibility lies with the Libyan people in finding a solution to the current conflict, but that the UN and the international community have a role to play as well.

"Furthermore, it is also clear that the international community must continue to come together and do all it can to support this quest for a solution, especially in providing the necessary support for the United Nations to fully implement the Security Council resolutions 1970 and 1973," he said.
