What Is The Best-Selling Car in America By Year?
From 1978 to 2020, over 348 million cars were sold in the U.S., or an average of 8.1 million cars per year. And throughout most of the 20th century, car sales in the U.S. were led by American manufacturers.
From 1978 to 1988, two of the “Big Three” Detroit-based auto manufacturers had the best-selling cars in the country. GM had two models of the Oldsmobile Cutlass and two different Chevrolets in the top spot, while Ford was able to compete with the compact Ford Escort.
But since the late 1980s, Japanese manufacturers started to take over in affordability, reliability, and overall sales.

After Honda and Ford fought closely for the most popular cars with the Accord and the Taurus, Toyota grabbed the crown with the ultra-popular Toyota Camry.
Toyota, which was the world’s largest automaker by market cap for a majority of the last 30 years, also has the world’s best-selling car of all-time with another popular model, the Toyota Corolla.

En la vieja teoria de sistemas todo dependía de la unidad de las partes para que el todo funcione bien. Ese ‘todo’ incluía la ‘auto-reproduccion de las partes (autopoiesis, se le denomino) y donde cada una de las partes tiene su propia función. En este sistema no son los inputs los que determinan los outputs, sino que es la dinámica interna (el como se organizan esos inputs= estructura) lo que define la creatividad del sistema y su correccion. Un sistema puede crear SINERGIA donde el todo es mayor que la suma de las partes y puede crear también tendencia hacia el punto medio (Pareto’ homeostasis) para salvarse de una crisis letal. Pero también puede crear tal CRISIS letal si una parte clave del sistema se aparta del todo (interfiere o usa recursos de otras partes) y eso puede crear la muerte lenta o rápida de un sistema. Es lo que ocurre en la economía hoy. Si un inversor clave retira su capital de los bancos, el sistema deja de funcionar en forma correcta, peor si no hay otro inversor que lo remplace. Que si varios inversores se van a China, Korea del Norte u otro país donde hay mas rentabilidad para su capital? Entonces muere el sistema anterior. Este es el fenómeno que Luthmann estudio bajo el concepto ‘COMPLEXITY’ theory. Aquí ya no es la unidad interna de un sistema lo que define el futuro del capital sino la relación del capital con el contexto mundial geo-politico y económico. Volveré sobre este punto!
