Another week, another massive inflow into equity funds... just as the Nasdaq was about to get hammered with a painful 10% correction.

According to BofA Chief Investment Strategist Michael Hartnett's latest Flow Show note, $22.2Bn in new money flowed into equities last week, following the previous week's massive $46.2Bn inflow which was the 3rd biggest on record, bringing the total 16 week inflow to $436BN, a stunning outlier as shown in the chart below

And yet, it's very likely that next week this massive inflow won't be repeated. In fact, it's far more likely that next week we will see a massive outflow because as Hartnett notes, "the price is now right": he points to the >100bps rise in 10Y TSY yields since Aug 4th low - as a reminder the plunge in 10Y prices since last March has been the 2nd worst bear market for bond in recent history...

... with credit (LQD, EMB) and tech (NDX -11%, SOX -15% from highs) having been hammered. The result is a sharp drop in froth (TAN -32%, TSLA -33%) while at the same time inflation assets are increasing sharply (oil 37%, banks 33%). And pointing to the chart below, Hartnett says that his "investment clock" says once inflation visible = yield curve bear flattens = +ve volatility, dividend-yielders, defensives.

THE FOUR DAY WORK WEEK IS CATCHING ON

As Covid has likely forever changed the work landscape for many companies, more and more institutions are even starting to experiment with a four day work week.

Awin Chief Executive Officer Adam Ross, who made the change at his company, allowing his workers to leave early on Fridays, recently told Bloomberg: “We firmly believe that happy, engaged, and well-balanced employees produce much better work. They find ways to work smarter, and they’re just as productive.”

Six or seven day work weeks have been the norm since the late nineteenth century, Bloomberg notes. Even nowadays, popular billionaires like Jack Ma have hailed a six day a week work week as "vital for long-term success". Bloomberg also noted that "in the U.K., the Labour Party lost the 2019 general election even as it campaigned on a pledge to trim the standard workweek to 32 hours within a decade."

My 1^st art on social been was sabotaged. The main idea was that TEST like SAT doesn’t measure success/failure of schools. It is the creation of ‘social been’ inside schools that create the human quality of students, and their consciousness (ethical, political & others), and the sense of belonging to a national society & its culture. Students don’t get that at home even if the whole family are teachers, they need the contact with other students to build their own personality. The best ‘social been’ (the best person for our nation) requires at least all years of basic education. At home a young person can be trained to be billionaire in one or two months or to assault a bank in less than one week. But to be a positive quality social been he need to be at school all years of basic education. [ Just in case: my first degree was Pedagogy (the science of designing best schools). My 2^nd degree was sociology (I was professor at Univ in Peru: systems theory was my specialty and my 3^rd degree was in Political Science. I did work in Pitt Univ for the WB designed Educ-health syst ]
